EGLSF Annual General Assembly 2022

A warm „Welcome to Vienna!“ to all our international friends!

Aufschlag Wien and Kraulquappen are pleased to host the Annual General Assembly of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation from 18 to 20 of March 2022 in Vienna. We look forward to welcoming more than 100 delegates of the LGBTIQ+ sports world from all over Europe.

We very much hope that the AGA can be held in person despite the Covid-19 pandemic. If so, the delegates would have the opportunity to get to know Vienna better and enjoy the hospitality of the Austrian capital, one of the most liveable cities of the world. The members of Aufschlag Wien and Kraulquappen look forward to meeting you!

EGLSF Conference

Out in Sport: How do Sport Federations and Associations Care for their LGBTIQ+ Athletes?

The sports conference will be hosted by the two Viennese associations, Aufschlag Wien and Kraulquappen, together with EGLSF and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport and the Minister of Sport, Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler. The aim of this conference is to contribute to further acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer people in sport.

It is meant to be a forum of discussion between (Austrian and hopefully some of neighbouring countries) sports associations, EGLSF members, and athletes in order to increase the associations’ knowledge of and attention to the LGBTIQ+ community. We intend to have a presentation of positive examples of promotion of acceptance and respect towards LGBTIQ+ members in their ranks: How do they tackle homo-, lesbo- and transphobic attitudes and bullying? What positive examples are there – also from EGLSF members? How can we support those associations and organisations that are confronted with difficulties when advocating acceptance? A set of recommendations should be defined, based on the already existing “Manual Human Rights and Sports”, published in July 2021 by the Ministry of Sport, and a study about Homophobia in Austrian Sport, both available (in German) on the website of the Ministry.

With this conference, we also want to reach a broader public: sports and mainstream journalists will be invited, and most probably, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF will broadcast the plenary debates live on its Sport+ Channel.

Meet & Greet

For everyone who already arrives on Thursday.

Villa Vida is a cafe in the historic Türkis Rosa Lila Villa. Originally known as the “Rosa Lila Villa” – or simply “the Villa” to many – it has been the bedrock of the LGBTIQ community in Vienna for more than 35 years! Born out of a squatter movement in 1982, the house with its colorful pink and purple exterior today stands for a utopian alternative to all social norms offering a wide range of support groups and services and collective living accommodation.
